How can seawater from the oceans be turned into fresh water that is suitable for people to drink? Through a process called solar desalination! With this energy science fair kit, you will build 3 different solar collectors. We tested many different colored plastic bags to find three (including a hard to find orange bag) that give the most definitive results. We've also included 4 styrofoam panels so you are ready to start when your kit arrives. Do batch solar collectors really work? Does the color of the bag affect how hot the water gets? Do this solar science fair project and find out!  How much water can the device produce, and is it still salty at all?

Kits contain tested materials to ensure that you have what you need to successfully complete your science project, have fun, and learn some science along the way!

10% of proceeds go to support Science Buddies!
