It's All in the Wrist: Moving Water with Archimedes Screw Pump (SBD-5257-KIT)
ADD TO CART
Amaze your friends and family by moving water with just a few turns of your wrist! Nope, it's not a magic trick. It's simply an Archimedes screw. Archimedes was one of the most successful inventors in ancient Greece because he liked to solve hard problems. He once designed a simple pump to help empty water out of the hold of leaky ship.
With this physics science kit you will experiment with different designs for an Archimedes pump. We tested a variety of tubing sizes and PVC pipes and found the perfect combination for testing different designs for the screw pump. How do different tubing sizes and wrapping designs affect the volume of water the pump moves? Use this kit to find out, and remember that Archimedes loved solving difficult problems!
This kit follows the procedures from the Science Buddies mechanical engineering project
It's All in the Wrist: Moving Water with the Archimedes Screw Pump.
Kits contain tested materials to ensure that you have what you need to successfully complete your science project, have fun, and learn some science along the way!
